Q: Why do I need to answer these questions?

A: We take security very seriously and in order to protect you from possible fraud and identity theft we need to verify your identity.

Q: How many questions do I need to get right?

A: To protect the integrity of the process, we can't answer that question. We need enough right answers to accurately verify your identity.

Q: Where are these questions coming from?

A: The questions are generated from information in your credit file including electoral role information and information about your credit history. MINT does not store the information or see which answers have been answered correctly or incorrectly as this is all addressed via a secure link to the Credit Reference Agency. The reason we are doing this is to verify your identity and to protect you from fraud.

Q: Why are you allowed to access this information?

A: We are able to access the data under the Terms & Conditions for your account which you agreed to at application stage. We understand that your personal information is important and take data protection and security seriously. We would not access the information unless it was necessary to protect you from fraud and identity theft.

Q: Is my personal information secure/ protected?

A: The information is only accessible through a secure link to the credit reference agency and access is strictly controlled. We take data protection and information security seriously and only undertake these checks where necessary to protect you from fraud and identity theft.

MINT does not store the information or see which answers have been answered correctly or incorrectly as this is all addressed via a secure link to the Credit Reference Agency.

Q: Can anybody see this information about me?

A: No. Credit file information is not publicly available. We are able to access the information to protect you against fraud and identify theft. You can access your own credit file by visiting the credit reference agencies websites: Equifax, Experian, or Call Credit.

The system generates the questions and answers - your personal information is not available to MINT and we do not know whether the answers you provide are correct or incorrect.

Q: Will this have any impact on my credit rating?

A: No. Our access to this information is for verifying your identity only ? this will not have any effect on your credit worthiness and will not be visible to other lenders.
